Over 50 individuals participated in a forum hosted by Representative Carol Sente on September 26. “Bridges to the Real World” provided information on resources for individuals and families affected by autism and developmental disabilities.
Speakers included:
- Susan Perlik, Caseworker, speaking on independent service coordination and the PUNS list. (Community Alternatives Unlimited)
- Jill Dresser, Attorney speaking on legal rights, (Special Ed Advocacy Center)
- Brian Rubin, Attorney speaking on guardianship, trusts and future planning, (Law Offices of Brian Rubin and Associates)
- Sherri Schneider, speaking on benefits including SSI and Medicaid (Family Benefits Solutions)
- Cassie Diaz-Bello, speaking on education, (SEDOL)
- Katie Rhedin, speaking on recreation, (Special Recreation Association of Central Lake County)
- Lindy Mika, speaking on Legislative issues on behalf of Rep. Sente
The meeting was held at the Laschen Community Center in Vernon Hills.
